Nintendo’s big move into mobile games is paying off. Super Mario Run has hit 200 million downloads, according to a presentation by Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima. And the Super Mario Odyssey game for the Nintendo Switch has sold more than 2 million units in its first three days.
Smartphone revenue was $157 million, up 426 percent from a year ago thanks to the launch of Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes on mobile devices. Nintendo is poised to move further into mobile games with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, which debuted in Australia on October 25 and will go worldwide soon.

Kimishima reported the latest news in the wake of the company’s latest six-month earnings report, which said that sales were up 175 percent from the same period a year earlier.
“Our aim is for this application to be the definitive Mario application for smart devices. The major update to version 3.0 in September added, among other things, the
new “Remix10” mode to allow for shorter bursts of thrilling play,” Kimishima said.
He also said that Fire Emblem Heroes is steadily growing overseas. Sales of the New Nintendo 2DS and 3DS models are going well. Overall Nintendo 3DS unit sales are expected to hit 70 million units sold to date soon.
As for the company’s retro console, the Super NES Classic Edition has sold more than 2 million units worldwide. And Nintendo will resume production of its NES Classic Edition in 2018.
And the company’s flagship console, the Nintendo Switch, is expected to hit 14 million units sold in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2018. So far, more than 7.6 million Switch units have been sold to date. Kimishima said that Super Mario Odyssey, a new Switch game that debuted on Friday, appears to be meeting high expectations for sales.
More than 300 software publishers are developing games for the Switch.
